Earlier this month XQ finalized an exciting new partnership with Hub Advanced Networks. 

Hub is an advanced telecommunications and technology company that provides digital infrastructure and connectivity to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Hub focuses on advanced wholesale telecommunications infrastructure services and advanced technology services via four core service pillars of wholesale fiber optical services, international backbone and data centers, special facilities, and special purpose real estate. Such services provide a digital platform that supports advanced application development and fosters innovation. 

The aim of Hub is to help customers in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean harness and take advantage of innovative developments in technology such as the internet of things (IoT), small cells, smart cities, virtual collaboration, high-performance networking, security, project management, and cloud computing. The company operates the Caribbean’s most innovative computing facility, named HUB787, which serves as their flagship telecommunications facility. 

The XQ and Hub partnership will enable XQ to apply its quantum-safe encryption technology throughout the entire fiber pathway provided by Hub to the end destination and ultimately edge devices. This allows XQ to operate on end systems that receive fiber from HUB, such as manufacturing sites or health systems, where XQ will encrypt sensitive data emanating on edge devices such as IoT sensors. 

This partnership extends the security of fiber to users and applications, making HUB the first fiber provider with an integrated secure cloud offering that has security embedded with an extended trust model. XQ’s API-based Encryption as a Service product will protect privacy and control systems on large-scale systems from cyberattacks. XQ’s platform is able to encrypt, route, and manage data distribution for a Smart City.
