SMART Cities Connect Start up Challenge

Increased technology and wireless devices are transforming cities around the world. SMART city IoT networks are composed of thousands of devices sending millions of messages a day. This will grow exponentially as 5G enables greater scale and speed. The technology allows for increased efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and improves the quality of the place for residents. But as the technology grows and more and more devices are used, transformation is needed in securing the devices and the data they collect.

The amount of data passing through these networks, coupled with the sensitive nature of it, presents a prodigious security challenge. Existing data protection technologies are ill-equipped to deal with the data security and management challenges associated with growing SMART city IoT networks. Put simply, they are not secure enough, fast enough, agile enough, or scalable enough to enable SMART cities of the future to succeed.

That’s where XQ comes in. XQ is a clean-sheet approach to providing Internet-scale data protection for 5G-enabled IoT networks. XQ was built from the ground up to provide a lightweight and crypto-agile solution for IoT networks. Our Secure Message Authorization Routing Tracking (SMART) architecture brings quantum-safe edge encryption to networks, meaning every message sent is encrypted before it leaves its device. Messages are encrypted using a quantum random number generator seed, ensuring every key is different. SMART requires low-cloud compute power, facilitating easy macro-scaling as SMART city IoT networks grow. Cities that adopt XQ now won’t have to reassess security protocols as their cities develop.

XQ is pleased to be participating in the SMART Cities Startup Challenge where our CEO, Brian Wane, will demo our technology and how it allows encryption over 5G IoT devices. We hope you’ll tune in!
